ISTD » Leading Gen Y Era

    Signin

Indian Society for Training & Development (ISTD), Chennai Chapter is organizing a Southern Regional Convention on 24th and 25th of September 2010 (Friday and Saturday) with the first of its kind theme “Leading in the Gen Y Era” at Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai. SHRM India has joined hands with ISTD as a Knowledge partner for this event.

Event Theme

While the recently elected office bearers of ISTD sat down to discuss what should be the theme, the first thing they looked at was themselves. They were the youngest ever office bearers of the Society and was reflective of the growing influence of the younger generation. While none of them actually belong to the Gen Y, it came out very clearly that it was the Gen Y thinking that influences the way organizations do business and the way they lead; be it people leadership, sales leadership, operational leadership or strategic leadership.

The biggest challenge that gets thrown up today is leadership and leadership styles. Hence the Theme, “Leading in the Gen Y Era”. This convention is NOT just about leading the Gen Y employees, but about leading everyone and everything in the ‘Era’ of the Gen Y. This is not just about leading people but about leadership in all its dimensions. The way we sell and the way we transact with all stakeholders in business has changed. This needs a state of leadership that’s more sensitive to the socially networked, demanding and highly transparent environment prevailing today.

The Event

With the carefully thought out theme “Leading in the Gen Y Era” and the sub themes / topics that have been arrived at based on intense deliberations; the experience in the two days of the Convention promises to be highly enriching for all professionals who are leaders irrespective of function that they represent. The convention structure itself is to throw surprises at the way convention have been conducted. It would be reflective of today’s environment where disruption is encouraged, democracy tested to its limits and transparency kept absolute.

The Speakers

Each one of the speakers have been chosen and invited after a good understanding on how they would add value to the overall convention objective. The final list of speakers shall be published with the brochure to be released shortly. We are bringing in good diversity of thought leadership through speakers from different corners of the globe.
